Security Women Actively Supporting Women
In an industry where women are underrepresented, finding a support system of fellow females can pose challenges. Speaking from personal experience, I struggled to find resources or female mentors to turn to for guidance when initially entering the industry and necessarily found myself seeking guidance from the majority group in navigating the industry. Unfortunately, the desire to blend in and avoid drawing attention often results in unintentional neglect of uplifting fellow minority colleagues or industry members. And overtime the challenges of transitioning from education to the workplace, or between industries, tend to fade from memory.
It is essential for women in the security field to support and empower one another by actively engaging in recruiting, mentoring, training, and leadership roles. Through our actions, we hold the power to generate positive impacts, ranging from simple gestures like facilitating networking among female colleagues to dedicating time from busy schedules to mentor other women in the security industry. Join this session to hear about shared experiences and learn how we all can contribute to making a difference.
