SUMMARY:Executive Presence: Commanding the Room Without Apology
DESCRIPTION:Women in security are experts at protecting others but often find themselves protecting their own credibility in leadership spaces. This session tackles executive presence head-on—not as something you fake until you make it, but as an authentic leadership skill you can develop and strengthen. Through real stories from three generations of security leadership, participants will learn practical strategies to command respect, communicate with authority and lead without apology. This session combines honest talk about the challenges we face with actionable tools you can use immediately to show up as your full, powerful self.\nParticipants will leave this session able to:\n\nIdentify and eliminate language patterns that undermine their authority (apologizing unnecessarily, overqualifying statements, asking permission to contribute)\nApply four specific communication techniques to handle interruptions, dismissive behavior, and challenges to their expertise in real time\nDevelop a personal action plan to build executive presence through daily practices in meetings, presentations, and workplace relationships\nNavigate the double bind of leadership expectations for women—being strong without being “difficult,” being collaborative without being “soft”\nAdvocate for their ideas and career advancement using business impact language that sells their value to leadership\n\n
